Selfridges, Oxford Street, Spring Windows 2013
As part of Selfridges’ Spring Windows Launch, the VM team installed windows reflecting various British Summertime events such as Royal Ascot, Lsst Night at The Proms, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Glastonbury and Pride.
Another of these events is Notting Hill Carnival which is shown here in these bright citrus coloured windows. Creative Services’ Display & Exhibition department made and installed the back wall in the window which is made up up of overlapping circular disks made of perspex and foamex. The yellow and orange foamex shapes were cut by our Signs & Graphics department on the Zund machine which can cut various materials into all sorts of shapes using a path created in Illustrator at quite an impressive speed. The amber perspex shapes were cut by our Creative Acrylics department on our laser cutting machine which can cut straight through plastic materials, or create etching effects both on plastics and wood.
